Togakure Ryu
The Togakure school was established in 1185, at the beginning of the Kamakura period. Its founder had learned shugendo practices as well as Hakuun ryu ninjutsu from Kagakure Doshi.
Togakures ninja were known for their use of weapons, especially metsubishi - a box with a substance that would blind the attacker and tetsubishi - a small spiked weapon used to slow pursuers. In their secret weaponary there was also shindake - a long bamboo tube, senban shuriken - the four pointed throwing star, and shuko, known as climbing claws.
